Gwandalan and Summerland Point report
Gwandalan and Summerland Point continue to be popular suburbs for purchasers. Being on the shores of beautiful Lake Macquarie just a short drive from picturesque beaches, and with their fast and easy access to either Sydney or Newcastle, we see no reason for demand to lessen in Summerland Point or Gwandalan.
2019 has seen a correction in the NSW property market, and we have also seen a shift in prices through Gwandalan and Summerland Point. Both suburbs have seen fewer sales in winter 2019 than in the same period last year. The good news is, if you bought in Gwandalan or Summerland Point five years ago, you’re still seeing an increase in property values over that time, showing that vendors are still finding strong returns.
Changes in the area… The expansion of the Newcastle property market moving to its outer suburbs is providing a trickle-down effect, bringing new buyers exploring their options to the southern end of Lake Macquarie, as well as the traditional move north from people coming from the lower end of the Central Coast. When talking about changes, there are very positive outcomes for the whole area with new businesses opening up whether it be new trades to the area or new retail, eateries, or doctors’ surgeries. People have the confidence in the area and its surrounds and are very positive about the future of the area.
Moving forward into spring, with the continued low interest rates, along with the financial lenders relaxing some of their requirements, we expect more first home buyers and investors will move into the market. Also, sellers in Sydney and outer regions who have been waiting for a buyer on their property are now selling, which is giving them the opportunity to move into their desired area. So expect the rest of 2019 to remain a great time for buyers while still providing vendors with a strong return on their investment. We are excited about the opportunities for people living in or wanting to become part of this fantastic community.
